Packing service in West Yorkshire

We box, wrap and label everything, so you can hand over the stressful part and get on with your day.

Packing is the bit most people dread. There is never quite enough time, and it is the plates and glasses that suffer. We can take the whole job off your hands or just the fiddly bits.

We pack it so it travels safely, and we label the boxes by room so unpacking is quick at the other end. Fragile items get proper wrapping rather than a roll of newspaper and hope.

You might want the whole house packed, or just the kitchen and the breakables while you deal with the rest yourself. Either way, we agree what is being packed and when before we start.

Packing usually happens the day before or the morning of the move, so it dovetails neatly with everything else going on.

What does a professional packing service include?

Our packing service in West Yorkshire means our crew wraps, boxes and labels your belongings so they are ready to load. You choose how much: the whole home, a few rooms, or just the breakables. Packing can be added to any house removal or long-distance move.

We bring the boxes, paper, bubble wrap and tape. Plates are wrapped one by one and stood on edge, glasses are wrapped and packed upright with padding, and pictures and mirrors get extra protection. Every box is labelled with its room and a note of what is inside.

Packing and materials appear as separate lines on your quote, so you can see exactly what they add to the price of the move.

Full packing or part packing: which do I need?

Full packing suits you if time is short, you are working right up to moving day, or you simply do not want to deal with it. We pack everything except the things you are taking with you, usually the day before the move.

Part packing is the popular middle ground. Most people manage books, clothes and bedding themselves and leave us the kitchen, glassware, ornaments and anything awkward. The kitchen often takes longer than any other room, so handing it over saves the most time. If you want to tackle it yourself, our guide on how to pack a kitchen walks you through it.

Fragile-only packing is the lightest option. We wrap and box china, glass, pictures, lamps and electricals, and you do the rest. Our guide to packing fragile items shows the approach if you want to try some yourself.

How is a packing job priced?

We price packing the same way as the move: from a 30-second form or a short WhatsApp video of each room. Open a few cupboards and wardrobes as you film so we can see how much is inside. Full bookshelves and kitchen cupboards make a big difference to time and materials.

You get a fixed price in writing, with the move, the packing and the materials shown separately. If you later decide to pack a room yourself, tell us and we will update the quote before the day. You can start on our quote page.

What happens on packing day?

The crew arrive at the agreed time with the boxes and materials. We start with a quick walk round so you can show us what is being packed, what is staying and what is travelling with you. Then we work room by room, usually leaving the kitchen essentials until last.

Packed boxes are sealed, labelled and stacked neatly out of the way, so you can still move around the house. If packing is the day before the move, keep out what you need for the evening and the morning, and we will box it up first thing.

What should I do before the packers arrive?

Set aside anything you do not want packed. That includes your overnight bag, documents, keys, medication, cash and valuables, which should travel with you. A spare room or a cupboard clearly marked as not for packing works well.

Take out anything we cannot carry, such as paint, aerosols, cleaning chemicals, gas bottles and fuel. Empty the fridge and freezer and leave them to defrost. Give away what you no longer want, because packing things you will only throw out later costs time.

Some pieces need special care, such as artwork, a family heirloom or a large television without its original box. Point them out on the video so we bring the right materials.

Why does good packing matter in older Huddersfield homes?

Many homes around Huddersfield are stone terraces and cottages with steep, narrow stairs. Well-packed, evenly weighted boxes are easier and safer to carry on tight staircases than overfilled crates or bin bags. They also stack firmly in the van, so nothing shifts on hilly roads.

Clear labels matter too. In a three-storey terrace or a house with a cellar, boxes that go straight to the right floor save a lot of carrying later. If you are moving somewhere smaller, we can mark the boxes you will not need straight away so they can go to the back of a cupboard.
