Furniture delivery and single item moves in West Yorkshire

Bought a sofa online or need something collected and delivered? We will pick it up and get it in place.

Not every job is a full house. Sometimes you just need something shifting — a sofa from a marketplace seller, a desk for the spare room, or a fridge that has to come up three flights.

We collect, transport and place the item for you, and we take care of the doorways and stairs on the way in. Bulky pieces get a two-person lift rather than being dragged.

This is handy when a shop will only deliver to the kerb, or when an online seller is a fair drive away and you would rather not hire a van yourself.

Tell us what the item is, both addresses and whether there are stairs or a lift, and we will come back with a straight price.

How does furniture delivery work with Castle Hill Removals?

Furniture delivery in West Yorkshire with us is simple. You tell us what the item is, where it is coming from and where it is going. We collect it, protect it in transit and carry it into the room you choose.

To get a price, use our 30-second quote form or send a photo or the listing on WhatsApp to 07414 949493. Include the floor at each end, any steps, and whether there is a lift. You get a fixed price in writing, usually the same working day.

The price covers the van, two people for bulky pieces, blankets and covers, and fuel and mileage. If the item needs putting together at the other end, mention it, as complex assembly is listed separately.

Buying second-hand? What to check before you book

Marketplace and auction buys are where many single-item jobs come from. Before booking, ask the seller for the measurements, which floor the item is on and whether it comes apart. A sofa with removable feet or a wardrobe that unbolts is far easier to move.

Agree a collection time with the seller and make sure someone will be there to hand it over. Sort out payment with the seller yourself before collection day. If the item is up a steep lane or in a top-floor flat, let us know so we can plan for it.

Ask for clear photos too, and raise any damage with the seller before we collect. That way you are not left arguing over a scratch that was already there.

Will my sofa fit? Access in Huddersfield homes

This is the question that catches people out. Older stone terraces around Huddersfield often have narrow front doors, tight turns at the foot of the stairs and low ceilings on the landing. Cottages in the valleys can be tighter still.

Measure the item's height, width and depth, then the narrowest doorway, hallway and stair turn on the way in. A sofa that will not go through the front door may still fit with the feet or arms off, or through a different door.

Send us the measurements and a few photos and we will tell you before the day if we have concerns. It is far better to know before you buy than to find out on the doorstep.

How is the item protected on the way?

Every item is wrapped in removal blankets before it goes in the van and strapped in place so it cannot slide on hilly roads. Glass tops, mirrors and pictures are carried upright and padded. Upholstered pieces are kept covered so they arrive clean.

At the delivery address we protect door frames and banisters on the way in, and we carry rather than drag. Once the item is in place, we take the blankets away with us and check you are happy with where it sits.

What if the shop only delivers to the kerb?

Some retailers only deliver to the kerb or the ground floor, which is no help with a wardrobe for a second-floor flat. We can collect from the store, a warehouse or a collection point and bring it straight up to the room.

Check what the shop will let a third party collect, and keep your order number or receipt to hand. Large items often come in several flat-pack boxes, so tell us how many when you ask for a price.

Check the boxes are all there at collection, as a missing part is far easier to sort out at the store than once you are home. If assembly is needed, tell us whether you want us to do it or would rather build it yourself.

Is single-item delivery the right service for me?

If you have one item or a few, this is the most straightforward option. Once the list grows to several rooms' worth, a man and van job usually suits better, and a whole home needs our house removals service.

For pianos, safes and other very heavy specialist items, ask us first, as they need extra planning and are priced separately. Some things we cannot carry at all, even on a short run, so check our guide to what removal companies won't move.
